“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalms 46:10)
I simply don’t know if I can even convey what I am feeling today. Today, the 23rd of February is a special day for me. You see, 20 years ago today is the day that I got on my knees and committed my life to Christ. My life is not my own, for me it never has been. I remember as a child spending time alone both outdoors and indoors talking with God, singing praise songs, and praying for things that were and still are important to me. As I reflect back on my life I see His hand at work, guiding me, moulding me, guarding me, and gently blocking various paths that I could have wrongly taken. Still, for me that day, 20 years ago will be the most important and most meaningful day of my life on this earth.
Today I want to challenge each of my brothers and sisters in Christ who read this to take a day of inward communion to simply worship God and to share your love and devotion for Him. It doesn’t have to be a specific date on the calendar but, just like you may show your love and devotion for a special someone or a spouse on valentine’s or an anniversary make it a day when you show and tell your love and adoration for the one who both breathed life into you physically and also spiritually. You don’t have to be in church; I’m working today just like any other weekday. I’m simply taking the time any time during the day that I can to inwardly and quietly tell the center of my universe, my Creator, my Savior, my Lord, and my Father, the Most High Living Sovereign God how much I adore Him, how much I need Him, that my life is His and His alone, and over and over just how very much I love Him. For me today is a day of re-dedication, renewal, and a re-commitment to my total surrendering of myself to Him.
Again, I urge you each and every one to set aside a day to simply take time out to “be still and know…” and to express your feelings toward Him.
God, I Love You and I adore You! You are everything to me and the center of my universe. As I spend a day of inward communion with You I pray and ask that everyone who reads this would stop and marvel at You glory and splendor. Father, I pray that you would touch them all, each and every one and draw them to Yourself and to communion with You. Tell each of us who we are in You and what we mean to You. Whatever our situation, no matter our finances, our health, how rejected and abandoned, or even how oppressed we are in this broken world I pray that each and every one can know and experience Your love. You are everything and when all of those other things pass away we will realize that You were, You are, and You always will be… My heart and spirit humbly bow at Your feet and I petition for Your blessings to be over us all. I ask these things in the precious name of Christ Jesus my Savior and my Lord. AMEN!
Now, “May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.”
