“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13
I’m writing this at a time when I need this message as much as any of us. I was thinking yesterday about how it’s so very easy to come before God feeling small and insignificant. I don’t know about you but I feel that way much of the time. The good news is that we shouldn’t feel this way as believers. Those of us who believe in Christ Jesus and all that He has done for us are reminded in scripture that we are God’s children, His chosen ones! Here are a few more verses that give us this promise…
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,” Romans 8:16
“for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.” Galatians 3:26
“and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:14-15
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” Romans 8:16-17
Let’s dwell on this today and let it sink deeply into our hearts and spirits. As we pray, let’s come before God as our Father…
Father God, I believe in Your Son Jesus as my Lord and my Savior. I believe in His being born of a virgin, living a sinless life, and dying and being resurrected to pay the price for my sin that I may have eternal life through Him. Your Holy Inspired Word says that because of His sacrifice and our belief in Him that we are your children. I love You Father! I Love You Jesus! I love You precious Spirit of God! You are everything to me and I belong to You entirely. I am not my own and everything that I have belongs to You. I come before You like a child and ask for Your blessings for myself and my brothers and sisters in Christ. Help us to see Your Glorious Face today and everyday and help us to rely totally can completely on You. In Christ’s Name I pray. AMEN!
