And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.  Colossians 3:17 ESV 

Let’s look one more time at this verse with the inline commentary from the Amplified Version. 

Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him], giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  Colossians 3:17 AMP 

 

Sovereign God, I love You! You are everything to me and all that I have. Everything, including my own life belongs to You and I am wholly dependent on You for everything, including every breath and every heartbeat. I bow my heart before You in humility and brokenness asking Your forgiveness for my faults and failures. I humbly lift up my brothers and sisters in Christ to You asking for Your love and blessings for them in their lives today. You know each and every petition and need. Father, as we who live in the USA enter a season of Thanksgiving and remembrance I ask that Your Holy Spirit would remind us that the temporal things of this world aren’t really what’s important. We thank You for Your forgiveness, we thank You for Your love, we thank You for sacrificing Your one and only pure and sinless Son to pay the ultimate price for our sin. We thank You for every day, every moment, every breath and every heartbeat that You give us and most of all for the knowledge and understanding that those of us who love You and who believe in Jesus as our Savior and Lord and who put aside our sinfulness and surrender wholly and completely to You are accepted as Your children and will live with You for eternity. All praise, honor, and glory are Yours and Yours alone!!! In the name of Christ Jesus our Savior and King; AMEN!
