Isaiah_1:16-17_800x449_AppleChanceryMedium

Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil,
Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor;
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
Isaiah 1:16-17 NKJV

I think this picture is a good analogy for what we are supposed to be as Christians. We are called to be different from worldly people. We are called to be a light into this dark world. When we act like everyone else, talk like everyone else, and go about our daily lives just like everyone else we’re putting that light “under a basket” like the bible says. Even though these verses are from the Old Testament I think they bring us a good reminder of how we’re meant to live. Why don’t we pray and ask God to convict us where we need to change so that we can be a light into the darkness that reflects God’s love and what Christ has done for all of us who believe in Him? Let this be my challenge for today.

Most High and Sovereign God, I love You and I give You thanks and praise. Please have mercy on my soul and be gracious to me today forgiving me of my doubts, my faults, my failures, and all of my sinful ways. Thank You for this reminder today. I pray and lift up my brothers and sisters in Christ to You as well. Please open our hearts and help us to see and hear clearly with our spirits that which You would have us to see and hear today. Convict us of the places in our lives that we need to change so that we can be more and more like Christ each day and so that we can shine as a light in the darkness of this world. We are Your children, we love You, and we want to live for You. Father, I make my appeal to You on behalf of all of us who are suffering in many different ways. Please give us each testimonies to Your goodness, affection, and lovingkindness so that we may share and spread your glory and miraculous power and majesty with others. Bless us so that we may be encouraged and so that we may bless others around us. Give us courage and boldness and the words to share the gospel of Christ with others. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may live more and more for You each day. I come to You and pray these things in the name of Christ Jesus; AMEN
